A huge celebration of food, wine, arts and crafts
The Tairua Wine and Food festival is a ritual amongst holidaymakers in the Tairua and Pauanui area. Over 10,000 people flock to the festival each year.
A huge array of food stalls, wine, beer, entertainment and of course stacks of arts and crafts stalls.
The event is the major fundraiser of the year for picturesque Tairua School - which sits on the Tairua Harbour and has a roll of just under 100 students - and is run completely by parents and kind local volunteers.
There are no dogs allowed at the festival since it is held on the school grounds and it is also a smokefree area |

Off road trail run with a difference!
Around 150 years ago most of the Coromandel peninsula was covered in Kauri Forest. Today very little remains of the original forest.
This off road run will take competitors from Waikawau Farm Park, up and along the Central divide and into the township of Coromandel. The run will be will take between 2 and 5 hours. It’s a tough run, but scenically very beautiful with views of both the Pacific Coast and Firth of Thames. There will also be a shorter run of between 1 and 2 ½ hours.
ARC's vision is to plant a Kauri tree along the route for every competitor that takes part in the race and so that gradually over the years their will be an avenue of Kauri trees to run along.
A bus service from Coromandel to Waikawau will be provided on both the Saturday and the Sunday before the race. The race will start at the civilized time of 10.00am.

This is a popular day for the petrol heads and car enthusiasts. Held the day before the “Battle of the Streets” bike races, so that people can come the day before and see the cars and stop over for the bike racing the next day.
Swap meet stalls are set up early in the morning ready for a day’s ‘trading’ and stalls selling other things join them for a marketplace atmosphere. Coffee carts and sausage sizzles fill the air with rich aromas and live music keeps the tempo of the day. The racecourse opens it’s bar to cater for those who want to “wet their whistle” with something a little stronger.
