Mercury Bay Area School is a co-educational state school in Whitianga, a popular beach resort town on the East Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. Being an area school, the school caters for students from age 5 right through to the completion of their secondary studies.
The school is modern and well-equipped, with swimming pool, library, computer suite, sporting facilities, science block and gymnasium.

As well as offering core subjects and a variety of elective non-exam subjects, Mercury Bay Area School has a specialist Marine Academy, taking advantage of the natural surroundings. Outdoor education and a healthy lifestyle is a focus at Mercury Bay and an extensive range of extra-curricular activities reflects this focus. The small size of the school means that international students are given plenty of individual attention, with well developed support structures in place.
