Paeroa is an ideal mid-journey stop between Auckland and Tauranga/Rotorua, Paeroa - the home of the iconic 'Lemon & Paeroa' soft drink, offers several fine Cafes and some fascinating local attractions.

Steeped in gold mining history, the Karangahake Gorge (8km south of Paeroa on State Highway 2) is incredibly popular for its walkways, winery, fishing, rock climbing and swimming.

KARANGAHAKE GORGE AND HISTORIC WINDOWS WALKWAY - 8km east of Paeroa is the historic Karangahake Gorge which links Paeroa with Waihi.

THE GIANT PAEROA BOTTLE - Everyone knows the Big Bottle of Paeroa. At nearly 7 metres high, it is a permanent reminder of the therapeutic Paeroa Spring Water discovered before 1900, which, with the addition of lemon, became known as New Zealand’s own national soft drink.

PAEROA RACECOURSE - Paeroa on race day is truly a gala occasion. The Racecourse enjoys a reputation for excellent on course amenities and top fields and is a popular Convention Centre.

PAEROA MUSEUM - Belmont Rd. From pre-European days to those of the early settlers and the gold mining days in Karangahake, the Paeroa Museum depicts the heritage of the district. Special features include a fine collection of Maori artifacts.

PAEROA HISTORICAL MARITIME PARK - Situated on State Highway 2 – at the confluence of the Ohinemuri and Waihou Rivers, the Park offers restored vessels and displays.

HERITAGE TRAIL / CAPTAIN COOK MEMORIAL ,Netherton - In 1769 Lt. James Cook and crew landed here at the spot marked by a cairn adjacent to State Highway 2.

PRIMROSE HILL
- Great views of the Hauraki Plains can be viewed from the site of the area’s war memorial.

PAEROA DOMAIN - Home of the Thames Valley rugby team – a home game is a big event in the area. Netball, Croquet, Petanque and Athletics also played on this picturesque Domain.

PAEROA GOLF COURSE - Rotokohu Road, Paeroa. Presents a challenging 18 holes in lovely rural surroundings.
