Coromandel Stamper Battery

Coromandel Town

Geologist Ashley Franklyn offers an enthusiastic tour of the plant and reveals the region's fascinating mining and geology history.

Educational and insightful, Ashleys tours showcase the 112 year old water powered wheel which powers the stamper battery - used in the Gold Mining days back in the 1900's.

Fully functional, you will see Ashley start the battery up and marvel as you watch it begin to work!

Pan for gold in the river and walk inside to see the geological display.

Tours of the Stamper Battery run daily throughout the summer, every hour from 10am until 3pm.

Winter hours - closed Fridays - other days by appointment.

Tour prices:
Adults $10
Children $5
Gold Panning $5
