TDCD Service Centre

Coromandel Town

Thames-Coromandel District Council’s Coromandel service centre was built in 1873 by the Auckland Provincial Council.

It originally housed the district’s government offices, courthouse and, from 1896 until 1969, the post and telegraph office. Until 1979 the town’s police station was located behind the government offices.

The newly formed Thames Coromandel District Council took over the building from the Coromandel County Council in 1975.
