Thames Heritage Festival
Thames Heritage Festival is a fantastic celebration of our heritage.
Thames has a rich history dating back to the first contact between Pakeha and the Tangata whenua.
During March we celebrate our district's history in this festival of events.
The festival will include a Heritage street parade, the 'Totally Thames' trolley derby, the'Surf 2 Firth' bush marathon over the historic trails forged by the Kauri bushmen and gold miners in the 1800's, a Victorian Fete held in the grounds of the Thames Museum, a Vintage and Veteran car parade and expo, a Heritage Food Fair, storytelling evenings on the Thames Coast, classic cinema in Thames Art Deco theatre, a Country Music Festival, a Heritage shop window-dressing competition, a family sports day and picnic, a music hall evening, guided walks and talks around the heritage buildings and sites of Thames.
