Tramway Rides Museum




Operate tramway rides through heritage processing site at Waikino, guided tours in museum and through underground ore roasting kilns (only ones accessible to the public in NZ)
A not-for-profit incorporated organisation solely run by volunteers since 1994.
Attractions open Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays 10 am -3pm. Charges made - sorry no eftpos due to remoteness.
On the Hauraki Rail Trail and Karangahake Walkway. Entry via walkway bridge over Ohinemuri river from Waikino railway station or drive slowly in off Waitawheta Road at Owharoa to parking area.
Picturesque site is always open. Ideal for picnics. Relics and concrete foundations, etc to view. Interpretation signage by the Dept. of Conservation - a truly hidden treasure.
