Thames Coromandel district Council Concession Permits

The following forms are designed to help you achieve a safe and stress-free event. Thames Coromandel District Council can talk you through what you might need, but make sure you contact them in the early planning stages. 07 868 0200

FORMS - Use of Land

Applicant Information Pack for a concession permit or license to hold an activity on a Council reserve or public place

Application Form for Events, Activities and Concessions including weddings, functions or concerts on a Council reserve or public place

FORMS - Liquor Licence

If your are planing on supplying alcohol for the purpose of consumption or sale, a liquor licence is required.

On a Reserve a liquor license will only be issued once the concession permit or license is issued.

A special liquor licence usually takes 2-3 weeks to process and a fee applies

FORMS - Food/Health Licence

If your event is open to the public and held on public land you will need a Health licence

If your activity is a private event such as a wedding or conference you may still need a Health licence for the reception/ dinner, but not for a "toast to the bride & groom"

If you are using a catering company they should have their own health licence, however please get this checked with your caterer.

FORMS - Traffic Management

If your event is on or adjacent to a road and it may affect traffic (vehicles or pedestrians) or if it requires a partial or full closure of a road there are procedures that must be followed.

A Traffic Management Plan is required when the normal traffic flow will be interrupted or there will be an impact on road users. 

FORMS - Marquee Consent

A building consent maybe required for any marquee or other temporary structure. 

For some temporary structures you will need to apply for a building consent.Temporary structures are defined as buildings intended to be used for short periods of time. Such structures may be used at special events or displays such as weddings, functions, music festivals, market days, etc and include:

  • marquees
  • tents
  • grandstands
  • artwork
  • scaffolding
  • staging
  • platforms etc

A building consent application is not required if a marquee or tent which is used for:

  • private use, is less than 100 m2 in floor area, or
  • public use, is less than 50 m2 in floor area
  • and in either of the cases above, will not remain in use for more than one month

A building consent application is not required if:

  • a deck, platform or stage is less than one meter in height

Depending on the event ( ie music festival) a resource consent may also be required.
