Issued 28th Jan 2023 - The Coromandel has experienced a severe weather event, with a state of emergency declared on 3 Feb 2023. As a result, SH25a and the Tapu Coroglen roads have been closed.

Some local DOC campsites are closed, and Te Whatu Ora Waikato advises everyone to not use coastal beaches, lakes, rivers and streams until at least 48 hours following heavy rainfall due to potential bacterial contamination.

Please take care in and around the region and keep up to date through the following agencies.

Register your team on Eventbrite to compete in "The Great Waihi Beach Scavenger Hunt 2023". Click here to enter. 
It's free to enter, but there's a limit of 100 entries, so don't miss out.
You have two days to complete 12 Challenges that will take you from the North end of Waihi Beach all the way to Bowentown. All teams that complete all 12 challenges go in the draw to be one of three lucky teams to dig for treasure! All three teams come away with something.... will it be $750. $500 or $250.
To complete your registration, you will need to pick up your scavenger hunt pack from the Waihi Beach information centre between 8.00am - 10am Saturday the 28th of January, make sure you have transport, a camera that can upload photos to Instagram, and bucket loads of energy!
