Issued 28th Jan 2023 - The Coromandel has experienced a severe weather event, with a state of emergency declared on 3 Feb 2023. As a result, SH25a and the Tapu Coroglen roads have been closed.

Some local DOC campsites are closed, and Te Whatu Ora Waikato advises everyone to not use coastal beaches, lakes, rivers and streams until at least 48 hours following heavy rainfall due to potential bacterial contamination.

Please take care in and around the region and keep up to date through the following agencies.

The mighty Shapeshifter launches a brand new summer festival series with a new must do 1 day festival for the Auckland Anniversary holiday makers in the beautiful Coromandel this coming January 28th at Williamson Park, Whangamata.

Joining them on the night will be Australian psychedelic-surf rock legends Ocean Alley, festival shredders My Baby, and two of the best young acts to get you warmed again after a day in the waves in Masaya and Flaxxies

This is an R18 event, ID will be required at the gate that matches the name on the ticket.

An alcohol ban is in place around Williamson Park for the event. Please respect the local community and our environment.
