Billygoat Falls

About

At 180m high, officially the tallest waterfall in the North Island, Billygoat Falls is located in the Kauaeranga Valley. Despite the fact that only parts of the waterfall can be seen, the falls are still ones of the most impressive in the North Island.

From the road end car park, walk to the swing bridge to cross the Kauaeranga River. Take the first track on your right which leads you for 5 minutes to Billygoat Landing. Here you see good views of the Billygoat Falls.

One of the great walks in the valley is the Billygoat Circuit, and you can get a dramatic glimpse of the falls near the top of the cascade on this walk.  Just don't go too close to the edge!

Duration: 4-5 hours return

Distance: 10km Return
