The Cooks Beach Summer Gala Fundraiser for Whenuakite School is a must do event on the Mercury Bay Calendar and draws crowds from near and far to enjoy this festive market that is held every year on the 4th January at the Cooks Beach Reserve.
Get your gang together and find yourself a bargain at one of the 100 plus stalls – because you may need an extra pair of hands to carry home your wares!
Cooks Beach Summer Gala Activities
There are plenty of activities including, the bottle toss, Home produce, veggie & plant stall, raffles, games, music and entertainment. There is truly something for everyone and every age.
There will be stalls offering a huge range of men, women and children’s clothing in all styles at unbelievable prices.
A major highlight of the day is the sponsored by Richardson’s Real Estate ‘Daisy Dung Drop. This is a hugely popular competition and the tickets sell out quickly, so get your ticket as soon as you can on arrival. Who knows, you may just be the winner of $1000 cash!
Food Options at the Cooks Beach Summer Gala
A great feature of the Gala is the wide range of food options available for your picnic under the trees. Indulge ina variety of flavours, ranging from finger-licking burgers, Mexican nachos, sausages, hotdogs, homemade lemonade and the Gala’s famous mussel fritters.
The Whenuakite School community will certainly make sure that no one is left hungry on the day. And of course, there are the fairground favourites, candyfloss, ice cream & popcorn accompanying fairground activities.
Whenuakite School Fundraiser
Whenuakite School is a huge part of life in the Mercury Bay area and many of the children of local families attend. Parents and staff work tirelessly to support classroom learning in a friendly and caring environment with this fabulous, fun, family event raising vital funds for the school.
Many local business and members of the Mercury Bay Community support & sponsor this event and without whom the Gala would not be possible.
How to get there
You can drive around to the Cooks Beach Gala on January 4th, but you can also take the Whitianga Ferry and walk the 3kms to Cooks Beach or catch a Go Kiwi shuttle bus available on the day. You can always stop for a swim at Front Beach or Flaxmill Bay on your way home. Plus, there are a few cafes on your way home to quench your thirst.
