Isolated and tranquil, Otama is a long white sandy beach great for swimming and surfing.
Located at the southern end of the Kūaotunu Peninsula and 20 min North of Whitianga. Mostly undeveloped and occupied by holiday homes, Otama is a long white sandy beach great for swimming and surfing.
The dunes and wetland nature reserve around Otama are protected and managed by the Otama community.
Directions: From Kūaotunu turn off SH25 on to Black Jack Road and follow the sealed road till you reach the beach front. Further on from this point is Opito Beach.
NOTE: This beach is not patrolled by Surf Life Saving NZ and can be effected by dangerous condition.
