COIVD restrictions have meant that the recent acts scheduled for Kauaeranga Hall have been unable to travel to perform. So we’re going local with headline act Sean Kelly & The Super 8’s.
Sean Kelly, a truly local icon, is debuting his latest creative masterpiece by presenting an audio/visual concert of live Irish music played to a back-drop of old Super 8 movies that his father took. These classic clips are taken in and around Derry & Donegal in Ireland between 1958 to 1988.
The videos include footage of Sean’s family, his parents’ wedding in 1960, the first videos from the 1960’s of Sean and his five siblings, Irish landscapes, urban and rural, school-life
in Derry, and videos of the army on the streets of Derry during ‘The Troubles’.
This live music will carry you back to a place and a time long past with songs and stories that will make you laugh and at times be brought to tears.
This is a concert for young and old as that is what is featured on screen.
And in a first for Kauaeranga Music, local band The Dirty Firth will be the supporting act, playing a mixture of their own music and well-known foot-tapping favourites.
