The freshest catch of the day, from the Thames Wholesale Fisheries next door. Great selection and the perfect waterside location.
Locals' favourite, make sure you bring a chilly bun and take some home with you.
Located adjacent to Thames Wholesale Fisheries, this rustic little cafe started its humble beginnings as a small cool store that was converted to become The Wharf Coffee House to compliment the inclusion of fish n chips at the fish shop next door. The vision of enjoying a meal of fresh fish n chips with a cold beer and a nice glass of wine while overlooking the water was the focus of its creation.
There is indoor seating, an outdoor covered area as well as BBQ tables situated on the wharf which gives it an iconic kiwi feel. As well as enjoying your fish n chips here, the coffee house offers great coffee, cabinet food, an infamous mussel chowder, and a selection of cold drinks. As a licenced café it also offers a nice range of beers, pre- mixes and good wine all at reasonable prices. The Wharf is the only establishment in Thames with water views.
The fish shop located prominently on the wharf has been a Thames Icon for the last 25years, historically a fish wholesaler that offered a selection of fresh fish and related seafood products from the front of the shop still exists today. These days there is less emphasis on Fish Wholesaling but the retail shop is popular with locals and travellers alike and is well known for its selection of fresh fish, and array of seafood products including scallops, oysters, kinas, mutton-birds, mussels and a selection of smoked fish that is smoked on site.
Thames Fisheries also offers fresh fish n chips that can be ordered at the fish shop and enjoyed on the outside BBQ tables overlooking the water and Marina area. Alternatively, the fish n chips can be eaten in the Wharf Coffee House and Bar a quaint little coffee house next door
