Issued 28th Jan 2023 - The Coromandel has experienced a severe weather event, with a state of emergency declared on 3 Feb 2023. As a result, some roads have been closed (with alternative routes to be taken).

Some local DOC campsites are closed, and Te Whatu Ora Waikato advises everyone to not use coastal beaches, lakes, rivers and streams until at least 48 hours following heavy rainfall due to potential bacterial contamination.

Please take care in and around the region and keep up to date through the following agencies.

Waipae Magic Charters Tairua

Waipae Magic Charters Tairua offers fishing trips to coastal and outer islands all the equipment is included in the price. We also do sight seeing excursions and marine mammal watching and swimming or maybe just a picnic lunch on a white sandy beach.

Our business is to give you our client an enjoyable safe experience on board our certified (Maritime New Zealand approved and surveyed) stable power catamaran. Our coast is littered with islands and beaches of unspoiled natural beauty. Our daily excursions are all year round and can be tailored to your requirements. We fish for all species of fish and target species for that time of the year. We also undertake scenic sight seeing trips with a natural history flavour which introduces you to the many different species of fish, avian and mammals that frequent these waters and the history of Maori and European settlement during their arrival in the area. Your Captain is very experienced, Master Scuba instructor and a environmental scientist.
