Issued 28th Jan 2023 - The Coromandel has experienced a severe weather event, with a state of emergency declared on 3 Feb 2023. As a result, some roads have been closed (with alternative routes to be taken).

Some local DOC campsites are closed, and Te Whatu Ora Waikato advises everyone to not use coastal beaches, lakes, rivers and streams until at least 48 hours following heavy rainfall due to potential bacterial contamination.

Please take care in and around the region and keep up to date through the following agencies.

Whiskey Creek Cabin

“A quiet, calm space for couples to just be with each other”

With sustainability and eco friendliness in mind, this is a space that was designed to open your eyes to the simple luxury of off grid living.

About

The bedroom cabin features a large plush king bed with two large windows to take in the stream view, with natural light flooding in.

A small wood fire sits in the middle of the cabin, for cosy winter nights, and the bathroom is sustainably flawless. The deep couples bath is lit by floor standing lights, and the composting toilet is quite incredible. Plus there's a hot outdoor shower. The perfect idea of rustic beauty - with a view!

The lights are movable lanterns, with hooks all around, ready to light up the room.

Whiskey creek is the second and most recent accommodation to be built on the original ‘The Cowshed’ property. The 30 acre farm is set amongst the hills of Waikino and is home to pet cows, horses, sheep, ducks, chickens and a small home orchard of avocados, apples, peaches, plumbs, nuts and citrus fruit.
