Thames Mountain Bike Parks

The Thames area boasts two fantastic mountain biking destinations: the Hotoritori MTB Trails and the Moanataiari MTB Trails.

Hotoritori MTB Trails are nestled in the stunning Kauaeranga Valley. This network offers a mix of various grade gravel tracks, winding through native bush and pine forests, with streams adding to the adventure. Riders of all ages can enjoy these trails, whether they prefer an easy, scenic loop or something more challenging. The best track for beginners is the Short Hauler. a short 500m easy track best for beginners and not technical. Nice easy short loop trail with a short climb followed by some fun flowing downhill back to the start. Several small roller jumps along the way. For the next grade up, take Kim’s Track—a 25-minute, a grade 3 loop. More experienced riders can dive into the intermediate trails or combine multiple loops for a longer, more exciting journey. Advanced and experienced trails also on offer.

The Moanataiari MTB Trails, located at the northern end of Thames at the end of Moanataiari Creek Road, provide a variety of options for all skill levels. The area includes a pump track, jump track, a picnic area, and the gateway to a broader trail network offering rides of all grades.
