Kūaotunu Dune Care - Planting Project
The back dunes of Grays Beach, once planted by dedicated volunteers in the 1990s, have faced challenges with invasive species taking over. Kūaotunu Dune Care is now working to restore this crucial habitat and create a thriving ecosystem.
Why Plant Here:
- Help protect and rejuvenate native scrub and tree species struggling against invasive plants.
- Support planting sand-binding plants to stabilize loose sand and prevent erosion.
- Safeguard important archaeological sites, including existing middens on the dune faces.
- Provide habitat for native species.
Your donation will directly support Kūaotunu Dune Care's efforts to restore and preserve Grays Beach.
